I started running in September '09 as part of a healthy lifestyle change to lose weight and get fit.  Having never run before in my life (other than sports growing up and in school), I recall the excitement I felt after completing 1 mile without stopping!  Over the next several months, my distance increased and I ran a few 5K's; I was definitely "hooked".  I always hated exercise, but running became a great form of exercise that doesn't seem like it.  It offers time to think or a break from life's stress and I always feel better after a run.  Since signing up for the Beginning Runners Training Class in October '09 and becoming an SRR club member, I have helped with several races and become active with SRR in their mission to promote health and fitness.  Recently, I have been coordinating group runs to connect SRR members (and non-members) with other runners/walkers in the community to share information/tips, motivate each other or find a running/training partner.

I mostly run near downtown (Fulton/Mitchell/Ellis) and the Greenway/City Lake Park.  I also enjoy mountain biking, running on the beach and traveling.

So far, I have run eight 5K's

Best 5K Time: 22:25 (Santa Scramble '10)
